Safer Mobile Use
Welcome to GSMA Europe's Safer Mobile Use microsite. The purpose of this site is to provide information, share best practice and raise awareness about concrete measures of the mobile industry to increase the safety of children and younger teenagers using mobile phones. It will continue to grow and be updated. You are encouraged to visit regularly.
The mobile industry recognises that with increasing digital convergence, mobile services offer children an additional way to consume content that is already available on other platforms such as video images and music. As responsible companies, mobile network operators already work with customers, parents and other stakeholders, including children's charities, to address potential risks. Measures to provide for safer mobile use by children have been developed in a majority of EU Member States. The aim of the European Framework for Safer Mobile Use by Younger Teenagers and Children, an EU-wide industry initiative, is to support the roll-out of self-regulatory codes of conduct on safer mobile use across the EU as a whole. GSMA Europe, in cooperation with the European Commission, has been actively encouraging other stakeholders to join its members’ efforts to make mobile services safer for children.
